Board & Train
Add training to any boarding or sitting visit. This is a great way for your dog to learn something new, work towards correcting an unwanted behavior or get a refresher on things they've gotten rusty with. All dogs in my care get regular exercise, attention, and enrichment, but training adds an extra level of mental stimulation your dog will enjoy during their visit.

I will send you home with worksheets outlining what we worked on so you can continue to practice at home. I strongly recommend that you book at least one private training session after your dog's stay so we can practice what they learned in the context of your home, with you. This provides a better environment to demonstrate learned behavior as they'll likely be too excited to see you when you pick them up to fully show off their new skills.
What to Expect
Rates & Timing
When training at my house, I spend an hour per day on dedicated training with your dog. If we're working on a new skill, muzzle conditioning, or trick training, I'll often break that hour into multiple mini-sessions throughout the day. If I'm working on reactivity or dog-to-dog introductions, I usually spend the entire hour at one time. The structure throughout the day varies depending our goals.

I want to be clear that I offer additional training while your dog stays with me, not the popularized concept of Board & Train where you drop your dog off and get a whole new dog when you come back. I want your dog's visit to be more like summer camp, less like a boot camp. It's more enjoyable for both me and your dog. What they learn is associated with fun, never fear, which means it's more likely to stick. Depending on the length of the visit, it's possible that we can accomplish quite a bit! I will provide training on cues and alternate behaviors that will point your dog in the direction of the behavior we want to see more of. I never, ever use shock or prong collars that are popular with a lot of Board & Train programs.
$50 per dog per day added to the standard Boarding Rates (starting at $135 per day).​

We can add as many days of training to the stay as you like. Training every day is usually recommended for training new skills. If the training we're doing focuses on Behavior Adjustment Therapy, I'll likely take your dog to challenging environments so it may be better to train every other day if your dog needs to decompress between sessions. Talk to me about what you'd like to accomplish and what training schedule may work best to meet those goals while your dog is visiting.

I was surprised by how much he learned and that he had so much fun...
We do training sessions and training walks with Liz and were blessed to also have her watch Bruno while I was gone for the summer show season. I’m a hunter-jumper equestrian and thought it would be neat for Bruno to learn to do some jumps of his own so we added training to his visit just for fun. I didn’t expect much since he’s a gentle giant and not really a sporty guy, but I was surprised by how much he learned and that he had so much fun with it. I even bought my own set of weave poles when we got home for our own backyard.

We always are able to have a stress free vacation due to Liz.. I fully trust Liz with Remy who has some specific reactivity issues. Liz is amazing with him. He gets leash training, walk training and avoiding triggers with decoy cat etc when he stays with her. She also takes care of his rehab exercises for his back legs. He really looks happy in her house, and we also are relieved to have a reliable boarding place for Remy.

Ruby's stay was a great opportunity to advance her training...
We were already - and continue to be - Liz's clients for dog training, so we knew Ruby would feel comfortable staying with her. We have already seen so much progress in Ruby's leash reactivity, and her stay with Liz was a great opportunity to advance Ruby's training and confidence while experiencing a new environment.
